Water Coolers with Time
With that said, there are many modern water coolers that come with timers. You can set times for when the cooler will be operational to help you save money. This is ideal if you are prone to forget to turn the cooler off, not to mention that you must turn it on before opening hours to make sure that there is hot and cold water available. If your water cooler doesn’t have a timer option you can easily purchase one that is used for timing lighting or other appliances around the home and office. Simply attach the timer and pre-program it to turn off shortly after closing hours and turn back on again at least one hour before opening hours. This will give it enough time to cool and heat the water and there are no worries about forgetting to turn the cooler on and off again.
The last option is to simply consider the alternatives available to you. If you already have a microwave in the break room simply consider cutting the major costs of heating water by purchasing a water cooler with only the cold option. Water coolers that only have the cold spigot cost about $11 a year, quite a change from the $82 for both hot and cold. With that said, if you also have a refrigerator in your break room you can eliminate the cold option as well, thus saving you even more money. If you will be paying electricity for a refrigerator, might as well use it to cool water
